2010 Malakas at Maganda League - Victory Party

After the gruelling games at the field, we went to Faye's house to rest and prepare for the victory party. The guys bonded with Yuan, Faye's nephew, while playing Angry Birds on my iTouch.

We left Faye's house at around 8pm and proceeded to Congo Grill in Westgate, Alabang for the party. It was a very enjoyable event with lots of alcoholic drinks!!! There were several bands who played including De Lara, the band of Lougee from Eat Bulaga.

Congratulations to Sexual Chocolate and Discpachadoras for capturing the Pool A crown and to Monsters and Chicks with Discs for being the champions in Pool B!

Disc Kulits at Ayala Westgrove - Panga Sius (June 26, 2010)

This is Kulit's second time practicing at Ayala Westgrove in Sta. Rosa, Laguna. Once again, we enjoyed playing ultimate frisbee, basketball, table tennis, card games (one-two-three pass and pusoy dos) and also swimming at their infinity pool and relaxing at the jacuzzi while playing ping-pong-pang - jacuzzi version.

We can't wait for the next adventure here at Ayala Westgrove!!!

Summer League 2010 - Final Day (May 29, 2010)

Final day of the Summer League proved to be an exciting one since this will be the day that the best team in each of the pool will be crowned as Champions. Though my team, The Disc Kulits, is already out of contention, we are still there to snatch a win to avoid finishing our first-ever league at the bottom of the standings. Though we won via default (what a way to win, right???), we still played against the combined line-up of Minerva, Tiyanaks and Monsters for a sort of tune-up match. It seems that all of us already relaxed so we lost the game, 11-5.

We stayed the whole afternoon to watch the semifinals and finals games in all the pools. In the Pool C championship, Space Grapes won over LU-One while Xavier 2 took the top prize in Pool B against DUO One. Sunken Pleasures defeated Sexual Chocolate to snatch the Pool A trophy.

Watching the games of the top teams was really inspiring! It encouraged me to continue improving my skills on the sport that previously I'm not really interested playing since I thought I can't run fast to catch the flying disc. I need to improve, but I will take it one day at a time... Magiging magaling din ako! :D

Shakey's V-League Season 7 1st Conference Finals Game 2 - May 25, 2010

Eventhough I'm not feeling well, my family and I went to watch the games. It's the first time that my mother will watch the volleyball games live coz she usually watches the delayed telecast on NBN 4. So my sister asked her to join us just to feel the intensity of watching the games live.

The first game of the day is the Bronze Medal match between the Ateneo Lady Eagles and Lyceum of the Philippines University Lady Pirates. The volleybelles from Katipunan dominated the match in 3 sets matching their 3rd place finish in UAAP.

The second match proved to the a thriller as the UST Tigresses and San Sebastian Lady Stags extended the game in 5 sets. The Lady Stags forced a do-or-die match against the Tigresses claiming Game 2 with a score in the 5th set of 15-13.

Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin Adventure Day 4 - May 9, 2010

On our last day, we went to Dahilayan Adventure Park in Bukidnon to try Asia's longest zipline at 840 meters. We're supposed to try it the previous day but since we finished late in the white water rafting, we rescheduled it in Day 4. We really enjoyed trying the zipline! It was indeed a thrilling experience!

After the zipline, we went straight to the airport for our trip back to Manila. Our 4-day adventure in Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin is really an adventure worth remembering! Looking forward to our next adventure!

Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin Adventure Day 3 - May 8, 2010

We scheduled our white water rafting adventure on our third day. We coordinated with the Great White Water Tour group for this activity. We were a bit late and there were already a lot of people waiting for us who will also be joining. The experience is really tiring but at the same time thrilling and enjoyable, thanks to our tour guides!

Though we were told that this will only take us 3 hours, we finished the 17 kilometer - 21 rapids white water rafting adventure in almost 5 hours! The photos were taken by the tour assistants. I didn't bring Niknok (the name of my D80 Camera) with me since he might get wet so we just used the Sony digital camera of Rom for this trip.

Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin Adventure Day 2 - May 7, 2010

Second day in Camiguin is scheduled for swimming at the White Island. The place is really gorgeous! Very nice white sand beach with very clear waters! Nice for photography enthusiasts.

After going to White Island, we started to get ready as we will go back to Cagayan de Oro already. We had our lunch at J&A Fishpen where we ordered lots and lots of seafood! The lunch that we had there is among the best! We left the restaurant with a full stomach and a big smile.

We checked-in at Wilshire Inn in CDO and then had our dinner at the Night Market.

Cagayan de Oro and Camiguin Adventure Day 1 - May 6, 2010

First day of the adventure and our itinerary is to go to Camiguin first. We were a bit delayed in our trip since there was a problem with the check-in baggage of Faye. Her bag was left in Manila so we had to coordinate with the Cebu Pacific people to facilitate the transfer. We arrived in Camiguin around 2 o'clock in the afternoon and after we checked-in at Paras Beach Resort, we proceeded with our day tour around the Camiguin Island with our tour guide, Kuya Roger, who also arranged our land transfers for 2 days.

First in the list is the Guiob Church Ruins in Catarman, Camiguin. This was built in the 16th century and was detroyed by the eruption of Mt. Vulcan in the 1800s. Next in the list is the Sunken Cemetery with a big cross to mark the site of where the old cemetery. The Sunken Cemetery now is one of the world's unique diving sites. We had to leave the place right away because of heavy rains. We then went to Katibawasan Falls, a 250-feet falls and one of the treasured tourist spots in Camiguin. The water is too cold so we decided not to swim there. The last in the itinerary is the Ardent Hot Spring. This is a four-tiered pool with the water flowing from Mt. Hibok Hibok.

We ended the day with a chillaxed drinking session at the Paras Beach Resort where we saw Caloy, Carmi's long time barkada.

PUA Summer League Day 1 - April 18, 2010

Joined our first ultimate frisbee league with some of ultimate friends from the Monday Beginner's Night in Meralco and named our team Disc Kulits (I suggested it! hehehe).

Day 1 proved to be a very tough one for us as we only scored 1 point from our two games, first is against Xavier 2 and the next one is against Space Grapes. Though we were winless, we are still positive that we can win at least one game. GO KULITS!!!

Shakey's V-League Season 7 1st Conference - April 11, 2010

Watched the first day of the Shakey's V-League with my father. This will be the only day that I can watch the volleyball action since I joined a summer league for ultimate frisbee.

Results: Ateneo Lady Eagles defeated St. Benilde in straight sets while UST Tigresses demolished the FEU Lady Tamaraws also in straight sets.

Nestea Fit Camp Hot 2010 Boracay Day 5 - April 25, 2010

Our last day in Boracay and last day of Camp Hot. We left Boracay early though our flight is after lunch. After checking-in our bags, we took our lunch outside the airport. After several minutes our plane landed at Terminal 3 of NAIA, that was the end of our Nestea adventure in Boracay.

Imagine, we only paid 150 pesos for this kind of adventure??? One hundred fifty pesos for 6-weeks ultimate frisbee training at the Manila Leg of Nestea Fit Camp Hot, a night of partying at Encore for the Send-off Party and a five-day four-night stay in Boracay for the Nestea Fit Camp Hot Boracay Leg. Tell me, can you beat that???

Nestea Fit Camp Hot 2010 Boracay Day 4 - April 24, 2010

Our fourth day in Boracay is far from the past two days as the schedule is a bit relaxed so we decided to do island hopping and snorkeling. We went to Crystal Cove for picture taking and a bit of cave exploration, snorkeling at Crocodile Island (though we didn't enjoy it because of strong current) and swimming at Pucca Beach.

After island hopping and lunch, we went to Jonah's for another dose of fruit shake to quench our thirst (parang mountain dew! hehehe). Then we headed to our rooms to get ready for the Ultimate Summer Victory Party at Club Paraw.

Dinner was served early for us to get ready with the awarding ceremony and partying. They awarded first the winners of the different sports then the winners of the Nestea Fit Camp Hotties. Congrats to Jome and Sam!

The participants of the camp went wild as the Philippine All Stars started to groove which was followed by Parokya ni Edgar that made all the people even wilder!!!

After the victory party and since it's our last night in Boracay, we continue the celebration at Hey Jude! and used our 4,000 pesos gift certificate. Getting hot is really this COOL!!!

Thursday 29 April 2010

Nestea Fit Camp Hot 2010 Boracay Day 3 - April 23, 2010

The final day of the Nestea Fit Camp Hot Ultimate Frisbee Tournament. The Probies team finished 7th and 8th place but with the experience that we got from playing beach ultimate is really priceless! Playing against the country's top beach ultimate frisbee teams was a prize itself and learning from them is really inspiring. The top prize went to the Boracay Dragon A while Boracay Dragon B and Boracay Junkies finished 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively. We were able to watch the celebrity games with Derek Ramsey and the Nestea Beach Hotties.

We had dinner at Boracay Mandarin Spa and Hotel. The ambiance is really relaxing with matching acoustic performance from their in-house band. Philippine All Stars also rendered a couple of songs as well as other Beach Hotties. The night is not complete without a doze of alcohol so we went to Hey Jude! for a mini awarding ceremonies for ultimate frisbee. We were surprised to hear that the two Probies teams got the Spirit Award (speaking of consistency!!!!)! We got Php 4,000 gift certificate from Hey Jude! Inuman na naman to!!!

Nestea Fit Camp Hot 2010 Boracay Day 2 - April 22, 2010

The first day of the Camp Hot Ultimate Frisbee Tournament! Team Beach Bum and Team Probies were up to a difficult task of playing against top beach ultimate frisbee players. We were demolished by more experienced opponents but it didn't stop us in enjoying the free beers and mixed drinks after the games courtesy of Mr. Jude, the owner of Hey Jude! Though a bit sober, we still had time going to Jonah's for their famous fruit shakes (their Avocado shake is the best!!!).

We had dinner (woooot!! sarap ng food!!!) and party at Summer Place! We saw Karylle and DJ Nina at the dinner-party as well as the world-renowed Philippine All-Stars.

Wednesday 28 April 2010

Nestea Fit Camp Hot 2010 Boracay Day 1 - April 21, 2010

Time to go to Boracay! Left Manila around 12 o'clock in the afternoon (flight was delayed) and arrived in Boracay Island around 3pm. The trip was relatively smooth as we don't have to wait in a line since all the transfers were very well taken cared of by the camp organizers. We had a late lunch and then checked in at La Carmela de Boracay in Station 2.

The schedule is a bit light as we just have to attend the Welcome Dinner at La Carmela beach front and the team captain's meeting at Beach Bum. Team Probies was divided into two - Team Beach Bum (Pool A) and Team Probies (Pool B). We will be playing against the best beach ultimate frisbee teams not only in the Philippines but also in the world!!!

After the team captain's meeting, we went to Hey Jude! to chill and enjoy the Boracay atmosphere. The next 2 days will going to be a tough day for us, it's the start of the Nestea Fit Camp Hot Ultimate Frisbee Tournament!

Good Friday in Bulacan

After several years of not going to my hometown during Holy Week, we have decided to spend our Good Friday in Bulacan, Bulacan to watch the people doing "penitensya" and "pasan krus". When we arrived, we were told that we were already late since most of the "penitensya" and "pasan krus" are doing it before Good Friday. We were able to see few of them but we were lucky to see a reenactment of "Dakip" (Captured in English). This is a reenactment of Christ being held by the Romans and made Him carry a cross. The reenactment is a bit brutal since the Romans kick the one playing Jesus Christ and whip him while he is down. Usually, the one playing Jesus Christ would have a lot of bruises due to the numerous whips that he got from the Romans.

Bisita Iglesia 2010

For second year in a row, I was able to do Bisita Iglesia and this time we headed east. Though we weren't able to complete 14 churches, we were glad to have visited 6 different churches and most of them I haven't been to.

The 6 churches we visited are:

1. St. Francis Church - Shaw Blvd., Mandaluying
2. Christ the King Church - Green Meadows, Quezon City
3. Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Parish - Cardona, Rizal
4. St. Jerome Church - Morong, Rizal
5. St. Joseph Church - Baras, Rizal
6. St. Pio Church - Libis, Quezon City

Nestea Fit Camp Hot Finals Day - A Cinderella Story (March 27, 2010)

It was indeed a classic Cinderella Story that happened at the recently concluded Nestea Fit Camp Hot Ultimate Frisbee Finals.

Going to the final day, my Team (Team Probies) is at the bottom of the team standings in the morning session with a 0-3 win-loss card. We were told that we will be meeting the top team of the afternoon session in our first game with the winner moving on to the semi finals while the loosing team will be out of contention.

Game 1 : Team Probies vs Team # 5 (Race to 11) - we don't have any idea on how they play so we just send our strongest line-up first and we told our girls that they need to defend hard against their female counterparts. Final score: 11-8 with Team Probies going to the semis.

Game 2 - Team Probies vs Team Unit 1 (Race to 13 for 50 mins) - our team is now against the top team in the morning session. In Day 5, we were really outrun and outscored by this team so same strategy - intense defense and offense. The game was really close and nail-biting. Final score: 13-12 with Team Probies going to the Finals!!!

Game 3 - Team Probies vs Team Space Grapes (Race to 15 for 70 mins) - this is the game for the Trip to Boracay. Everyone is playing their best in order to capture the championship prize. Since we had a very tight match in the semis, we're expecting that this will be another tight match. But it seemed that lady luck is on our side as we easily got an early advantage of 3-0 and never looked back. The game ended with the final score of 13-9 with my Team, Team Probies, winning the finals and clinched the trip to Boracay!!!

We were really ecstatic with this achievement since in the beginning of the final day, we are not expecting anything because we haven't won any game in Day 5! It was really a very special blessing from God. Thanks to everyone in the team and to our coach - Coach Roselle - for her advice and encouragement.

GO TEAM PROBIES! See you in Boracay!

A Night of Partying - March 20, 2010

Spent my Saturday night attending the 60th birthday celebration of Tita Baby - Carissa and Carmi's mom - at Acacia Place in Greenhills, San Juan. I was asked by Carissa to be their photographer for the event though most of the shots here were taken by Carissa, Faye and Trina.

It was really a night to remember since it was my first time to attend a ballroom dancing party. Happy birthday again Tita Baby!
